About Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park spans over 14,700 square kilometers of iconic East African wilderness, renowned for its vast open plains, diverse wildlife, and the awe-inspiring Great Migration.
Home to over 3,000 lions and one of the highest concentrations of large predators in the world, the Serengeti also shelters cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, elephants, giraffes, and the endangered black rhino. The ecosystem supports over 70 large mammal species and 500+ bird species, offering world-class game viewing year-round.
Each year, more than 1.5 million wildebeest, along with hundreds of thousands of zebras and gazelles, embark on the Great Migration—a natural spectacle driven by rainfall patterns and the search for fresh grazing grounds. This ancient cycle of movement is considered one of the most dramatic and visually powerful wildlife events on Earth.
